Powder coating

Powder coating is an advanced process that uses electrostatic principles to provide materials such as steel, stainless steel, galvanised steel and aluminium with a protective and decorative coating in any desired colour and texture. This versatile process can be used both indoors and outdoors and offers numerous advantages.

In powder coating, a powdery substance is first applied evenly to the surface of the object. This powder adheres electrostatically to the material, providing uniform coverage. Next, the entire object together with the applied powder is placed in an oven, where it is heated to around 180°C. The heating causes the powder to melt and flow out, after which it cures to form a durable and wear-resistant finish coat on the object.

One of the main advantages of powder coating is the lack of solvents. Unlike traditional wet painting methods, powder coating does not use harmful solvents, resulting in an environmentally friendly process. Moreover, the electrostatic application of the powder ensures a very even and neat finish, with no drips or streaks. The powder also has excellent edge coverage, completely and evenly covering even complexly shaped objects.

Another advantage of powder coating is the faster turnaround time compared to wet painting. Because the powder can be cured directly in the oven, no drying time is needed, resulting in a more efficient process and shorter production times.

All in all, powder coating offers a durable, aesthetically pleasing and environmentally friendly solution for protecting and beautifying various materials. Its wide range of applications, neat finish, good edge coverage and efficient turnaround time make it a popular choice in various industries, from automotive to architecture and many more.
